In-person program in Mexico
Requisitos: .
Mexican Art, Culture and Textiles explores the rich heritage of Mexico City and Oaxaca as it relates to art, culture, food, artisans, and textiles. This program will start by welcoming participants in Mexico City with a Meet and Greet at Universidad Centro’s LEED Platinum campus to share their ideas and practices. As we continue in Mexico City, participants will engage in an authentic Mexican cooking class, as well as learn about artisan communities to understand their challenges and opportunities. Other highlights in Mexico City include a natural dye workshop, a lecture: Indigenous Textiles and Storytelling, as well as guided tours to the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Casa Azul (“Blue House”, Frida Kahlo’s private universe), and a visit to Museo Arte de Popular.
The journey continues in Oaxaca to experience this culturally rich and diverse region that provides an opportunity to enhance artistic creativity and development. Highlights include a weaving workshop, a visit to the Textile Museum of Oaxaca, a guided visit to Monte Albán, a walking tour of Oaxaca’s city center, and time to draw in the Ethnobotanical Garden of Oaxaca. The program provides a chance to understand Mexican artisan processes and their communities.
The program includes access to cultural and academic activities, as well as local transportation.
It does not include flights, accommodation, per diem expenses, or accident insurance.
